My Country
The exhibition My Country is a sample of exemplary transformations of neglected places in towns and villages into pleasant places to live. It is a gratitude and an inspiration to all who made these changes and provide a pleasant, clean, neat and dignified environment. The mission of the exhibition is to thank to the citizens for the good work, to encourage a good example to follow and thus strengthen local patriotism and an international prestige of our country.
The annual opening of the exhibition takes place at the venerable Vysehrad during the Ceremonial Meeting of the Regions, which is accompanied by lofty tones of symphonic poems Vysehrad and Vltava from Smetana's My Country cycle.
This meeting is associated with the cultural performances, with a free or symbolic admission fee to all Vysehrad exposures (for example Slavin, tombs of significant personalities of Czech science and culture), with the introduction of regional presentations and with a very popular tasting of regional specialties.
Each year, one of the regions is a partner of the exhibition. In 2009 it was the South Bohemian Region, in 2010 Capital City of Prague, in 2011 South Moravian Region. Partner of the region cooperates in the preparation of an annual exhibition and has the right to plant at Vysehrad "their" tree, a descendant of a memorable tree from its territory.
The exhibition will remain at Vysehrad one month and then embarks on a pilgrimage in the Czech country and beyond its borders - for example to the world horticultural exhibition Floriade 2012, which will be held from April to October in the Dutch town of Venlo.
The fourth annual exhibition will be opened during above-mentioned ceremonial meeting in Prague, Vysehrad on May 12th, 2012 at the King and Royal Acropolis.
At noon, at the sound of the bells of Vysehrad, the stone heart of My Country - the attribute of the event - will be handed over to a fellow region of this year. This heart was found during excavation works on linking Vysehrad and Vltava irrigation water supply system. |
